Chor Farmer

CHOR-FARMER was established as a Male Voice Choir of Tokyo University of Agriculture in 1967 by Hiroshi Masumoto. Now it includes members apart from the university. The choir has won prizes in many contests, and it is performing at the highest level.

50th Anniversary

In January 2018 the choir had a gala concert in Tokyo to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the club.

Chor Farmer Friendship Tours

Chor Farmer has held Australia & New Zealand concert tours every two years since 1977. They are extending the friendship with people and choirs of the two countries through longtime relationships. The Lobethal Harmony Club has participated in 12 of the 21 Chor Farmer tours and shifted the venue of concerts from Elders Hall in the city to Lobethal in the last years. As a consequence the bi-annual concerts are enjoyed by more Adelaide Hills and surrounding areas’ residents  and the social activities between the choir members have deepened their friendship – follow links to 2018 & 2016 visits:

Chor Farmer Music Repertoire

Chor Farmer gives three regular concerts a year in Tokyo. They sing various songs from different countries in the original languages. Particularly Japanese and Schubert (German) songs are important in the repertoire. Most of the songs in the repertoire are by arrangement of Hiroshi Masumoto. The choir released many arranged collections and music CDs.

In recognition of the musical cooperation and friendship which was built over the years between the Lobethal Harmony Club and Chor Farmer the Musical Director of Chor Farmer, Hiroshi Masomuto, was made Honorary Patron of our Club in 2016.  We received the attached letter after the Choir returned to Japan.
